CAROL AMOS Artist Biography - Contemporary Realism in Oils
Carol Amos was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and grew up in Ohio and Indiana. Her grandfathers were an artist and a furniture maker and her grandmothers were also artists.  Her realistic studio paintings in oils celebrate the uniqueness of plants, birds and animals, and landscapes by showcasing the contrasts between sun and shadow, and the sculptural shapes and the vibrant colors.  Cactus  flowers, and most recently large studies of succulents and other southwestern plants are her favorite and most frequent subjects. She often presents them in a close-up view to emphasize the visual impact, but may also include some of the details which she considers the “icing on the cake” that help viewers feel as if they are with her and seeing the subject in person. She is never without her camera as she finds inspiration everywhere.

Carol is a Signature and Board Member of Women Artists of the West, a Signature Member of American Women Artists, and a member of the Salmagundi Club, New York City; The Bennington Collective, Bennington, VT; The Hoosier Salon, Oil Painters of America and the St. Louis Artists’ Guild.

Her award-winning paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States, and in western art shows and sales at: the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK; The Bosque Art Classic, Clifton, TX;  the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, OK; and the Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson, AZ
